With the King Console we decided that contrast through the horizontal plane would benefit the overall design. The wood that we used for the subframe was a piece of Guayabon (Terminalia amazonia) which displays its own history, that of being reclaimed from a tree that was felled during Hurricane Felix in 2007. It has cracks and colour stains from its time on the forest floor, qualities never seen in production furniture, where standardisation is the rule.
Wood from the same board was used to create the commission for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in 2011, which is now in the Royal Collection.
